There's also the more recent G-Whiz disk, She Has That Plastic Alternative Indie Emo Punk Rock Mannequin Look!, essentially a reissue of their crucial second album, Hook, originally released in 1994. All tracks were ripped from my original, strawberry/banana splatter colored vinyl copy. Ed's is quite simply a terrific album, boasting ten abstract popcore numbers ranging from the sentimental "Hedges," to the dynamic havoc of "Wednesday," and the pulverizing panache of "Crystallized." 9/10 of the album were ushered into the digital age in 2002 as bonus material for the G-Whiz - The Pop Punk Singles Collection CD on Boss Tuneage Records (later rereleased on Number One Punk ). Possessing an eccentric bent truly unto to themselves, these Mesa, AZ desert punks never marginalized melody, even though it often took a minute or so for some of their songs to build to an effective one. Thought this would be a more than appropriate followup to Tuesday's man dingo post, given that 'da Whiz also called the environs of Phoenix, Arizona their home, not to mention that both bands are definitely cut from the same metaphorical "cloth." Not only did G-Whiz wear their influences on their sleeve, they even thanked them (All and Big Drill Car among others) on the back cover of their debut LP, Eat at Ed's.
#G WHIZ FULL#
It comes equipped with a full cockpit-length EVA pad for traction, a vent plug to manually equalize internal pressure due to heat and atmospheric pressure changes and three FCS fins (a 4.5” center fin and two 5.25” asymmetrical side fins).Technically this is the 33rd installment of my Splitting the Difference split 45 series, but truth be told, the emphasis here is going to be on G-Whiz (my apologizes to all two of you Lonely Trojans die-hards). The Slingshot G-Whiz SUP is built with a proprietary Wood Veneer Sandwich Construction, which controls durability and flex and creates a light and impact resistant board. These characteristics result in great tracking in open water and responsive turning when carving waves at speed, nailing bottom turns and transitioning from rail to rail in the surf. It also features Slingshot’s Variable Tucked Hard Rail profile. The Slingshot G-Whiz SUP features a unique bottom profile that progresses from flat underfoot to an aggressive V-spine and a snappy three-fin setup in the back. Paddlers who frequent flat water more than surf may want to choose the longer option regardless of their size or weight. Smaller, lighter or more experienced paddlers will benefit from the maneuverability of the shorter size, while larger, heavier or less experienced paddlers will benefit from the larger size’s added stability and buoyancy. The 9’4 is an inch wider, half an inch thicker and has about 40 liters more volume. The Slingshot G-Whiz SUP is offered in 9’ and 9’4” lengths. Short, wide and stable- great for all-around performance.Light weight construction means less yank when you crash in the waves.Great tracking and turning with V-spine bottom, three-fin configuration.
